Research group
The researcher Esther Via graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2006 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, later she specialized in Psychiatry at the Hospital de Bellvitge, Barcelona, in 2010. In 2015 she obtained her Ph.D. degree in Medicine by the University of Barcelona, receiving an extraordinary PhD award from the same university in 2018.
Between the years 2010 and 2016, she carried out several training stays in neuroimaging research: Institute of Psychiatry, London and Melbourne Neuropsychiatry Center.
Her research has been funded by several competitive grants, including an Endeavor Award from the Australian Government and a Rio Hortega grant from the Carlos III Institute of the Spanish Government. This last scholarship was carried out during 2016-2018 year at Parc Taulí de Sabadell Hospital with a contract of a postdoctoral researcher with a clinical dedication.
Since 2018, she works at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in a joint clinical and research contract. She is currently studying the presence of neuro-structural and neurofunctional alterations of the conical-streakal pathways present in adolescents who are either at risk of developing them or because they present a mental disorder.
