The UIC is organized under a one-stop shop model and responds to clinical research at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital and the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu. Our goal is to develop all clinical research activities within an ethical and excellent framework, which is why we have indicators for time, recruitment and quality.
Areas of expertise
Our unit is made up of a highly specialized team dedicated exclusively to the management and execution of research projects.
Our areas of expertise are pediatrics, focusing 68% of our activity on rare and ultra-rare pediatric diseases.
Cellular and gene therapies also currently occupy a growing percentage of our activity. Another of our areas of expertise is adult diseases in a wide range of specialties covering a large area of geographical influence. It is also worth highlighting our expertise in Mental Health, both in pediatrics and in Adults with Innovative Therapies with Psychedelics.
We have our own CEIm and a Biosafety Committee to evaluate clinical trials with gene therapy and cell therapy.
