Research group
The researcher Josefa Badia graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona in 1979 and obtained the title of Doctor in Pharmacy from the same University in 1987.
In 1989 she made a stay at the Institut für Organische Chemie und Biochemie, Albert-Ludwigs. U. Freiburg, Germany.
Since 1991, she has been a full professor at the University of Barcelona, going to the category of university professor in 2017, which she is currently maintaining.
She is currently a member of the research group on intestinal microbiota where she studies the bacterial factors involved in the communication with the host and in the modulation of mechanisms related to intestinal homeostasis, especially barrier function and immune response. This knowledge is essential for the application and design of new therapeutic strategies based on the intestinal microbiota and its products.
She coordinates the collaborations with different groups of investigation of chemical field where the mechanisms of action of compounds with antitumor activity are studied.
