Raúl Benítez obtained a doctorate in Physical Sciences in 2005 and then made a post-doctoral stay at the University of California working in the field of physiological data analysis.
Since 2009 he is an associate professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and currently coordinates the biomedical image analysis group at the Center for Research in Biomedical Engineering. The group applies image processing and artificial intelligence techniques to identify patterns and extract biomarkers in biomedical images.
He has been coordinator of four national and two European research projects, and is the author of two national patents and 26 articles in international journals (13 of which Q1).
