Josep Maria Haro and Ai Koyanagi among the most influential researchers worldwide

According to the ranking of the innovation company Clarivate Analytics, Dr. Ai Koyanagi and Dr. Josep Maria Haro are among the hundred most prominent experts who work in the Spanish State and lead projects with an international impact.

Clarivate Analytics' Highly Cited Researchers ranking, which includes nearly 7,000 names, is one of the most prestigious rankings in the international scientific and academic community. In the 2021 classification, among the hundred researchers from the Spanish State that appear on this list, two researchers from the Institut Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD) stand out: Dr. Josep Maria Haro and Dr. Ai Koyanagi.

The two of them lead the research group Epidemiology of Mental Health Disorders and Ageing from the IRSJD, whose aims are to determine the impact and frequency of mental disorders in the general population, to know its factors and how the is the health care received by the people with these health problems; with the ultimate goal to contribute to its prevention

"This is a recognition of the work that is being done in the group, of the impact of our research, and in this sense, it is remarkable that two people from the team appear in the ranking," says Dr. Haro. For her part, Koyanagi said that "it is an honor to have been chosen as one of the most cited researchers this year."

During 2020, Dr. Koyanagi published 78 papers and during 2021 published 69. Currently, she has 29 more pending of publication. Her most cited paper, according to the Web of Science, with 3,492 citations, is a systematic analysis for the 2015 Global Burden of Disease study published in the prestigious journal The Lancet.

On the other hand, Dr. Haro published 45 articles during 2020 and in 2021, he has published 47 and has 16 more pending of publication. His most cited paper, also according to the Web of Science, with 5,639 citations, is another systematic analysis for the study of the global burden of diseases in 2010; also published in the journal The Lancet.

The presence of Dr. Koyanagi and Dr. Josep Maria Haro scientific papers in this international classification means that they are within the 1% of the most cited researchers by field and year in the Web of Science (Highly Cited papers), a fact that underscores their great trajectory in investigation, teaching and investigation.
