Introduction:
The IBSA Foundation for Scientific Research promotes young and talented scientists by supporting high-quality biomedical research.

General Description:
For the 2025 call, the Foundation will award six fellowships of €32,000 each to researchers under 40 conducting innovative studies in one of the following areas:

• Dermatology

• Endocrinology

• Fertility and Urology

• Orthopaedics and Rheumatology / Pain Medicine

• Healthy Ageing and Regenerative Medicine

Two fellowships will be assigned to the research area that receives the highest number of applications.

The funding covers 12 months and is intended to support salary and mobility expenses. It does not include bench fees, overheads, consumables, or institutional benefits. Projects must begin in 2026, and postponements are not permitted.

Objectives:

• Support early-career researchers in conducting independent biomedical research.

• Encourage scientific excellence and mobility across institutions and countries.

• Promote knowledge transfer in key therapeutic areas.

Eligibility / Criteria

• Applicants must be under 40 years old at the submission deadline.

• Open to candidates of any nationality.

• Eligible backgrounds: medicine, biology, pharmacy, biotechnology, or bioengineering.

• Open to PhD students, PhD holders, postdoctoral fellows, and residents.

• Permanent academic positions (e.g., professors) are not eligible.

• Candidates must be affiliated with a Host Institution (university, hospital, or research centre) for the entire duration of the fellowship.

• The Host Institution must conduct non-economic biomedical research and ensure the dissemination of its results.
