Descripció:

Introduction:

The Joint Programming Initiative "A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life" (JPI HDHL) is a partnership between Member States and Associated Countries of the European Union that put together trans-disciplinary expertise, knowledge, facilities and approaches, ranging from blue sky research to large population studies and controlled trials to investigate the relationship between diet, exercise and health. The vision of the JPI HDHL is that by the year 2030 all Europeans will have not only the adequate knowledge and motivation, but also the opportunity and accessibility to consume a healthy diet from a variety of foods, have healthy levels of physical activity and that the incidence of lifestyle -related diseases will have decreased significantly.

Call objectives:

The goals of the call are:

  • To support multinational, collaborative research projects that encourage the development of improved methods and tools designed to assess and monitor diet and physical activity in order to help promote a healthier lifestyle.
  • To support proposals that are multidisciplinary, combining different scientific approaches and methods.

Call options:

The proposals should address at least one of the following topics:

  • The development of improved methods for dietary assessment using new technologies, this can for example include ICT tools, unobtrusive data, food purchases, etc.;
  • The further development of existing/identified biomarkers for food intake (e.g. combination of existing biomarkers to assess eating patterns and/or diet composition; validation of identified biomarkers in the background of influencing factors like gender, individual specific variations or genotype);
  • Identification of biomarkers of physical activities (sedentary and sleep behavior) including the first step(s) of validation;
  • Approaches for scientific application of commercially available device-based methods for objective assessment of physical activity (also sedentary and sleep behavior) as well as develop approaches to handle, aggregate and analyse such data in diverse populations;
  • The development of integrative tools to assess and monitor both dietary intake and physical activity.

Budget:

Eligible costs and funding provisions may vary according to the respective funding organization's regulations. Applicants must refer and adhere to their own specific national regulations and scientific remits as detailed in the National Announcements.
