Introduction

The aim of the AAL Programme is to improve the autonomy, participation in social life, skills, andemployability of older adults by providing innovative Information and CommunicationTechnologies (ICT)/digital-based solutions. These solutions, whether they are products, systems orservices, aim to enhance the older adults' quality of life, to improve the long-term sustainability ofhealth and care systems, and to strengthen the industrial base in Europe and internationally. Toreach the above- mentioned goals, cooperation with relevant stakeholders, particularly end-usersand business partners within the relevant active & healthy ageing eco system is essential.

Objectives of the call

The call 2020 supports two types of innovative, transnational and multi-disciplinary collaborativeprojects with the following goals:

Collaborative projects:

· Develop, test, validate, scale up and integrate into service delivery models ICT solutions forageing well.

· Develop innovative ICT solutions to support holistic approaches to healthy ageing formaintaining long term "functional ability".

· Contribute to the creation/strengthening/connection of ecosystems.

Small Collaborative projects:

· Exploring new ideas, new collaborations as well as new user approaches for ICT-basedsolutions designed to support older adults.

· Proposing proofs of concept for further development of innovative ICT solutions.

· Rapid evaluation of the business potential of available/new AAL products and services.

Types of projects

Collaborative projects.

They aim at developing and bringing to market ICT-based solutionsto support older adults by addressing issues such as well-being, lifestyle, comfort, digitaland health literacy aspects. They are expected to be user-driven through co-creation andaddress a specified challenge. These projects have short time-to-market (maximum 2 years),a clearly described route to market and an identified leader for commercialisation. Pilots andrelated testing and evaluation shall be carried out in at least two countries.

Small Collaborative Projects.

They aim at exploring new ideas, concepts and approaches forICT-based solutions for older adults. They should reach out to new stakeholders forinclusion in future development of AAL solutions, build strong collaborations with end-userorganisations, support community building with new customers and create shared agendas.They can result in well-substantiated ideas or proposals for AAL solutions to be submittedin a later AAL call (or elsewhere).

Eligible applicants

Only organisations that are described in the national eligibility criteria are eligible for funding. Withregard to collaborative projects, a total of 20 national Funding Authorities will provide funds, whilea total of 11 national Funding Authorities will provide funds for this new tool for the SmallCollaborative Projects. The complete list of countries is available in the call text. Spain is one of the countries participating in this call.

Project duration

Collaborative projects: from 18 to 30 months

Small Collaborative Projects: from 6 to 9 months

Partnership criteria

Consortia must be composed of at least 3 organisations from 3 AAL partner states. They mustinclude at least an end user organization and a for-profit business partner. Collaborativepartnerships can involve up to 10 partners.

Funding

Collaborative projects: maximum 2,5 million euro (50% of the project's costs).Small Collaborative Projects: maximum 300.000 euro.
