
Antoni Serrano Blanco

Dr. Antonio Serrano has a degree in medicine from the University of Barcelona in 1997, is a specialist in Psychiatry from the Spanish Ministry of Health since 2002, a PhD in Psychiatry and Clinical Psychobiology from the University of Barcelona in 2006 and has a Master's degree in Health Management from ESADE Business School since 2015.
The years 2007 and 2009 he made two stays at the King's Health Economics (King's College London) and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Since 2008 he has directed the Introductory Course on the Economic Evaluation of Health and Social Services. He is also a professor in the Postgraduate Course on Quality and Safety and Legal Assistance at the University of Barcelona.
Since 2004 he heads the PRISMA group, recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya (SGR1515). From 2007 to 2017 he was the principal investigator of the SJD group of the Research Network on Preventive Activities and Health Promotion (redIAPP).
He is currently an associate editor of The Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics and a reviewer of several prestigious international scientific journals.
Since 2018 he works as an assistant in the Directorate of Mental Health of the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (Sant Boi de Llobregat)
Since 2018 he has been principal investigator of group 58 of the Spanish Consortium for Epidemiology and Public Health Research (CIBERESP) and he is the coordinator of Program 6 (Evaluation of services) of the CIBER.
His research has been based on the evaluation of health services, focusing on the economic evaluation, participating in the analysis of the efficiency of different interventions in Primary Care to prevent and treat major depression, epidemiological studies and evaluation of interventions against the stigma and planning of services for people with mental disorders, among others.

More than 6% of Europeans suffer from depression
Dr. Antoni Serrano (Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu) participates in a study led by King's College London and the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute where the prevalence of depression among the population of more than 27 European countries has been studied.
