Clinical, cognitive and psychosocial basis of severe mental disorders
The researcher Susana Ochoa has a degree in Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1996) and received her Doctor of Psychology degree from the University of Barcelona in 2004. The title of her thesis was "Needs of people with schizophrenia living in the community," led by Dr. Josep Maria Haro and Dr. Miquel Bernardo, was presented by a compendium of publications and received a cum laude rating.
She received her Master's Degree in Mental Health and Clinical Psychology from the University of Barcelona in 1998. She also holds a degree in Market Research and Techniques from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2009).
In 2006 she undertook a research stay at the University of Leicester.
She has been working at the San Juan de Dios Health Park (PSSJD) since 1997 and since 2008 she has been the coordinator of the PSSJD Research Unit.
She is the coordinator of the Ethiopathogenesis and Treatment of Severe Disorders group, MERIT, together with Dr. Judith Usall, being a consolidated group recognized by the AGAUR.
She is a researcher at CIBERSAM, by the G11 group.
The line of research she coordinates is aimed at the study of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, from the early stages (first psychotic episodes) to more chronic stages of the disease. The line's interest is in studying the clinical, cognitive, metacognitive and psychosocial aspects that can help identify subgroups of people with certain characteristics to develop more effective and more personalized interventions. The line also has interests in studying the social stigma of illness, family impact and validation of assessment scales, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of psychological interventions aimed at people with psychosis.
