Introduction
This call is part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under the Horizon Europe programme, managed by the European Commission. MSCA is one of the most prestigious funding schemes in Europe, supporting researchers at all stages of their careers and promoting excellence in research and innovation.General description
The MSCA COFUND 2025 call aims to stimulate regional, national or international programmes to foster excellence in researchers' training, mobility and career development. The COFUND scheme provides co-financing for new or existing doctoral programmes and postdoctoral fellowship programmes. These programmes must be run by entities such as universities, research centres, funding agencies or regional authorities. The call supports two types of programmes:
- Doctoral programmes: offering research training activities to doctoral candidates.
- Postdoctoral programmes: offering advanced training to postdoctoral researchers.
Programmes funded under COFUND must include international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral mobility opportunities. They should also promote equal opportunities and inclusiveness, and support researchers' career development beyond academia.
Other relevant aspects:
- Projects must have a minimum duration of 36 months.
- Each programme must include an open, merit-based recruitment process.
- COFUND projects must not overlap with other MSCA-funded projects.
- The proposal is submitted in a single stage (no preproposal phase).
Objectives
The main goals of the COFUND scheme are:- To spread best practices of MSCA across Europe and beyond.
- To promote sustainable career development for researchers.
- To enhance the attractiveness of research careers and institutions.
