Description: The Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) offers three specific research grants aimed at supporting oncology nursing research projects in various areas, including breast cancer, general oncology nursing, and oral chemotherapy adherence. These grants are designed to provide funding for emerging and established oncology nurse researchers. The grants encourage investigator-initiated research, pilot studies, and studies aimed at improving cancer care practices.

Research Grant Details:

• RE34: Breast Cancer Research Grant - $50,000

  • Purpose of Grant: To support rigorous scientific oncology nursing research focused specifically on breast cancer. The grant is intended for emerging to mid-career oncology nurse researchers.

  • Eligibility:

    • The Principal Investigator (PI) must be a registered oncology nurse actively involved in cancer patient care, education, or research.

    • The PI must be doctorally-prepared.

    • The PI must have not previously received and completed at least one research study with a funding level of $50,000.

    • At least one member of the research team must have received and completed research funding of at least $100,000, serving as a mentor for the project.

• RE33: General Topic Research Grant - $100,000

  • Purpose of Grant: To support rigorous scientific oncology nursing research in general oncology topics. The grant can support investigator-initiated research, pilot or feasibility studies, supplements to currently funded projects, or the development of a new research program.

  • Eligibility:

    • The PI must be a registered oncology nurse actively involved in cancer patient care, education, or research.

    • The PI must be doctorally-prepared.

    • The PI must have received and completed at least one research study with a funding level of at least $50,000.

• RE26: Oral Chemotherapy Adherence Research Grant - $100,000

  • Purpose of Grant: To support scientific oncology nursing research focused on oral chemotherapy adherence. This is a major-focused grant intended to enhance understanding and improve adherence to oral chemotherapy treatments.

  • Eligibility:

    • The PI must be a registered oncology nurse actively involved in cancer patient care, education, or research.

    • The PI must be doctorally-prepared.

    • The PI must have received and completed at least one research study with a funding level of at least $50,000.
