Genís Oña holds a PhD in Psychology (Industrial PhD, International Distinction, Cum Laude). He has specialized in pharmacology from both a preclinical (Master of Science in the Central Nervous System, URV) and clinical (Master of Pharmacology, UAB) perspective. Since 2015, he has conducted research on psychedelic substances, particularly in clinical trials, and has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles, a book, and numerous book chapters.

He is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the Rovira i Virgili University and has been a visiting professor at Oregon State University (USA), the University of Antioquia (Colombia), and Adolfo Ibáñez University (Chile). He also coordinates the university diploma program "Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapies" (URV).

He currently coordinates clinical trials for pediatric patients with neurological diseases at SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, where he combines study coordination with neuropsychological assessment of patients. In addition to being a researcher at the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD), he is also part of the SGR Neurolab (Research Group in Neurobehavior and Health), affiliated with the Cat-Sud Biomedical Research Park. He is a member of the psychedelics working group of the Catalan Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health, and a founding member of the Spanish Society of Psychedelic Medicine (SEMPsi).
