Laura del Carpio

Laura del Carpio graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 2011. Following some years gaining practical experience at the Scottish Association for Mental Health, she completed her MSc in Psychological Research Methods in 2016 and her PhD in Psychology in 2022 at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Her doctoral work investigated the impact of bereavement experiences on adolescents, with a focus on suicidal and self-harm outcomes.

Laura's research interests lie broadly in the area of health psychology and mental health and wellbeing, with a particular interest in health interventions, treatment decision-making and patient-centered care, suicide theory, suicide prevention and postvention, and death, dying and bereavement. She has experience with mixed methods research, and in projects involving young people and adult populations.

Laura joined the Health Technology Assessment in Primary Care and Mental Health (PRISMA) Research Group at IRSJD in 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher. She is currently working on the SALVOVAR project, a Horizon Europe-funded multi-disciplinary clinical project investigating novel treatment approaches for patients with poor prognostic ovarian cancer. The Work Package managed by the PRISMA Group investigates the determinants of treatment decision-making among patients and clinicians, ultimately to better integrate patient preferences in the process of shared decision-making in situations of therapeutic uncertainty.
