We have received ISO 56001 certification after successfully passing the external audit by AENOR.

We have reached a new milestone in our commitment to excellence in research and innovation management after successfully passing the external audit conducted by AENOR to obtain ISO 56001 certification, the international benchmark standard for innovation management systems. The evaluation process concluded with a favourable outcome and no non-conformities, demonstrating the strength and maturity of the R&D&I management system implemented at the institution.

What does ISO 56001 certification represent?

The certification recognises Sant Joan de Déu's ability to manage research and innovation systematically, aligning strategy, processes, knowledge and people to drive value creation through the research and innovation activities promoted by the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD). This scope includes the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona (HSJD), the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (PSSJD) and the Fundació Sant Joan de Déu (FSJD).

This recognition strengthens our position as an institution committed to quality, continuous improvement and research impact.

The audit, carried out in several phases over the past few months, included a review of the management system, the associated documentation and its practical implementation in research and innovation processes. The audit team particularly highlighted the cross-functional working model promoted by the organisation, as well as the continuous improvement initiatives developed in recent years, identifying them as one of the system's main strengths.

Joan Comella, director of the Fundació Sant Joan de Déu (FSJD) and director of the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD), expressed his great satisfaction with this achievement: "Obtaining ISO 56001 is a recognition of our professionals' efforts and commitment, as well as of a way of working based on rigour, collaboration and a constant desire to improve. This certification helps us consolidate a culture of innovation aimed at generating knowledge and transforming it into tangible benefits for patients and society."

Comella also expressed his gratitude for the involvement of everyone and all the teams who participated in the process: "This result is the outcome of a collective effort that demonstrates the maturity of our organisation and its ability to turn innovation into a structured and sustainable process."

With this certification, Sant Joan de Déu reaffirms its commitment to research and innovation of excellence, aimed at addressing current and future major health challenges and generating a positive and sustainable impact on people and society.
