Wellcome (a UK-based charitable foundation) and Nature are running a global prize to spotlight and accelerate new interventions that improve outcomes for people affected by anxiety, depression and psychosis.
It's aimed at interventions that already show clear, measurable clinical benefit and are ready to move faster towards adoption and policy integration (it's a prize, not a traditional research grant). Key points:

• Intervention types: pharmacological, psychological, social or digital (standalone diagnostic/mechanistic tools are not eligible).
• Evidence: supported by an appropriately powered RCT (or equivalent rigorous design) and latest clinical data from the past 5 years.
• Stage: early implementation and not standard of care in more than two countries.
  Objective: Accelerate the development, adoption and policy prioritisation of effective interventions for anxiety, depression and psychosis.

Funding amount / Budget

• 1 winner: US$1,000,000
• 3 finalists: US$250,000 each (total prize money US$1.75M)

• Applicants must apply as a research group/team (full- or part-time employees) based at: university, research institute, hospital, government, not-for-profit, or an SME (≤350 FTE).
• The lead applicant must be a core member of the research group.
• The applying team must be the one that originally discovered/invented the intervention (collaborators must be acknowledged, but one lead institution receives the prize).
• Teams can be from any country, except those on the prize's restricted/sanctions-related list (explicitly mentioned: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, Crimea and the occupied territories of Ukraine, plus other sanctions-related restrictions).
• Application must be in English.
• Lived experience involvement is valued (important for evaluation) but not mandatory for eligibility.
• Start-ups/spin-outs are welcome if they meet the criteria; the prize is non-dilutive (no equity/IP taken).
