Montserrat Español has a Degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Barcelona since 1997 and obtained the Master's Degree in Experimental Chemistry from the same university in 1999. He completed his doctorate in Materials Science at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 2004 where he continued as a Fellow researcher until 2006.
He has done research stays at prestigious centers such as the Center des Matériaux Pierre-Marie Fourt of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines in Paris and Uppsala Universitet (Sweden).
Since 2018, Professor Serra Hunter is lecturer at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering of the UPC.
In 2006, he joined the Department of Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), where he soon received the post doctoral grant Juan de la Cierva.
His research focuses mainly on the study of calcium phosphates as biomaterials in the field of regenerative medicine and the use of nanoparticles of calcium phosphates both for the treatment of diseases and for the stimulation of bone regeneration.
