Monica Girona Alarcon

Researcher Mònica Girona Alarcón graduated in Medicine in 2013 from the University of Barcelona. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Barcelona, in the line of research on the pathophysiology of pediatric diseases, specifically in the study of infections related to healthcare in critical pediatric patients.
Between 2014 and 2018, she specialized in Pediatrics and its specific areas at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. From 2019 to 2021, she did a fellowship in intensive pediatric care at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. She currently works as a specialist in the Emergency Medical System and the pediatric intensive care unit.
At the same time, she has participated in research projects within the group on Immune and Respiratory Dysfunction in the Critically Ill Children, with the result of several publications, and has participated in various scientific conferences. She has also participated in clinical trials as a collaborator, and since 2021 as a principal investigator of one of them.
